“His Voice Today”

🔸️Our mental intention must be pure!🔸️

We must strive to completely wash away all the sins found within our inner man. In particular, we must be the people who seeks to wash away the kind of ‘wrong mental intentions’ from us very carefully. If not, those inner mental intentions will stay with us “like a hidden cancer” and one day it’ll destroy us!

In the Old Testament, we read about the relative of King Saul, Shimei. When Saul died and David became the king of Israel, this man had bitterness about David in his heart (2 Sam.16:5-14). Thus what had been hidden in Shimei’s heart for a very long time, one day it revealed out! While David was running for his life because of the rebellion of his own son Absalom, this Shimei came to David and began to throw stones at him, calling him a “bloodthirsty man” who had been judged by God

Yes, those whom we don’t like, when they are caught in a misery, all the evil thoughts hidden in our heart will be poured out!!

Later, when Absalom was killed and David returned to the throne, Shimei was frightened and ran to apologize with David. David forgave him and promised him, “I will not kill you”!

Now the wheel spins and David failed to wash away the bitterness he had on Shimei! Therefore, before he died, he said to his son Solomon, “Shimei is with you. I had sworn on Lord that ‘I will not kill him.’ However, the promise that I made don’t suit you. You act wisely and find Shimei guilty in some ‘cunning way’ and kill him!” (1 Kings 2:8-10). So Solomon avenged Shimei and then died! What a tragic death this is! Living as a man of God for many years and eventually taking revenge is a humiliating death! Evil mindset should not be allowed!

Prayer:
Our heavenly Father! Thank you for showing that our devotional life will be wasted if we do not constantly wash away the “wrong” mental intentions about others! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
