🔸️ Put off the Old self and put on the New self! 🔸️
Romans 6:1-7 verses explain the meaning of baptism very clearly. In those verses, we read that our sinful nature was crucified with Him and we were buried with Christ by baptism. In the days when we do not repent, the sinful nature was the one who wants to “sin” within us! Now this sinful nature is crucified with Christ! (Romans 6:6).
The sinful nature and the flesh are not one! The flesh is the storehouse that holds all the evil desires in it! Such flesh is always against the will of God. However, we have to carry this evil flesh with us till the day of our death!!
Our flesh can be likened to a gang of thieves trying to enter into our house! The sinful nature in our house can be compared to an unfaithful servant! The worst action this unfaithful servant (the old sinful nature) has done for us all these days is …”he has been continuously opening the door for thieves to enter!” But now, hear an amazing good news!! This evil and unfaithful servant has just been killed……. Thieves? They’re still coming around us with well-built body! But we now have a new servant called the ‘New Man’. The New Servant is truthful! This new man is desperate to lock the door against thieves who want to get in!!
We rejoice by our baptism, we witness the death and burial of the old sinful nature who wants to sin and now rise with Christ and “walk in new life!” (Romans 6:4).
Prayer:
Our Heavenly Father! Please bury the ‘sinful nature’ in practical life according to the true meaning of baptism and grant us the grace to live as the ‘New Man’! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
