🔸️ Depending upon the Lord with “broken-hearted,” Jacob leaned on his stick! 🔸
Hebrews chapter 11 beautifully proclaims the witness of Jacob. In that Chapter, it has been written about the great actions done by the Old Testament believers such as ‘Shut the mouth of the lion!’ ‘Raised the dead alive’…etc. The name of this Jacob is also written in that list! Do you know what is written about him? It is written, “He leaned upon his walking stick and worshiped the Lord” (verse 21). Is not an wonder, when miracles were recorded throughout that Chapter, a mention of “a casual event” of Jacob is also written there?
It is true that the act of Jacob did not appear to us as a “miracle of faith.” But the truth is that we can say that the deed of Jacob is more wonderful than the miracle of the registered believers! For this Jacob, a ‘walking stick’ was needed. Because, God touched and sprained his thigh in Peniel!! Jacob, now leaning on the stick, became a meditator on the miracle that God had “crushed him who lived on his ‘self’ as a deceiver.”
The act of his leaning on the stick revealed his statelessness…. It was also proclaiming his dependence on God!! The broken-hearted Jacob prayed to God!! He exalted himself in his weakness and inability….. That was the incomparable witness we see every day! The Apostle Paul received the same witness. Great men and women continuing through the ages have witnessed the same. They excelled themselves in their inability and weakness and not in their victory!
The life of these morality people who lived on the peak of humility…..Let it be a good lesson for today’s 21st Century pride and self-confident Christians!!

Our Heavenly Father! The incomparable witness of broken-hearted Jacob, whose life was depending on You only, blessed be it our witness! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
