🔸️ Spiritual growth of “not seeking for himself” 🔸️

“The child grew up…. filled with wisdom” (Luke 2:40). Throughout the 30 years of Jesus’ life in Nazareth, He grown up in wisdom! It is true to say that not a single day gone in vain without spiritual growth in His life. Thus, we can say that the one who lives like this, is the whole hearted spiritual man. That is, a man who, like Jesus, has used his entire life to fulfill God’s purpose in his life!

The spiritual growth of a man cannot be determined solely on the life that he has conquered over sins such as anger, uncleanness, lying, etc., The tree must be good before the fruit is truly good! Anger, sexual sins, and lies……. even the religions of the Gentiles emphasize the importance of overcoming these in life! Because of this, our spiritual growth is measured by the degree to which we are free from the spirit of “seeking of oneself”!

The primary root that stands for all our sins is the sin of ‘seeking for our self’. Seeking our own fame, our name publication and for our own gains are the horrible natures of “seeking for self”.

Charles Finny decisively said, “for what a man lived for determines whether he is a sinner or a holy person”. Not just some of our actions or some of the words we have spoken, instead…. what is the foundational purpose of our life will only demonstrate whether we are wholehearted disciples of Jesus or not.

If the wish and will of your life is only “seeking the Glory of God” then you can understand that you are free from the evil of ‘seeking for yourself’.

Prayer:
Our Heavenly Father! Thank you for helping us to know that true spiritual growth is the life of “not seeking for self”! Please be gracious on us to have that much growth!! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
