🔸️ Suffer in the flesh and free from sin! 🔸
Sin is not outside us! Paul said “Sin dwells within me!!”(Romans 7:20). Do not say, “I was good in Christ. I have sinned in my mind because this beautiful woman or man came before me.” This is because the sin that dwells in you has induced you to sin. Thus we can get victory over “sinful flesh” or “flesh with its desires and lusts” that dwelling in us at the time of trials, with the grace of God, by crucifying them, as Jesus did.
Like Christ, if we suffer in the flesh, that is, the desires of the flesh that are aroused in us are crucified, we too will have rest! God’s Word assures us. Yes, we too can overcome the ‘death’ that results due to sin!!
Thus, overcoming sin is like killing a lion and a dragon! These are the people who have received grace! They do not fall into the same temptation, but are worthy of being “tempted in every way” like Jesus. Take sexual desire, for example. It starts with the lust of the eyes, and have lots of filthiness one after the other in us!
It’s very sure that God gives His grace to an young man or woman who is desperate to suffer in their flesh. So within a year, definitely they can abstain from the lusts of eyes!
Thus a holy person who grows in holiness, will refuse to accept even the slightest temptation or sensation in his spirit by the lust of the flesh. He wilfully makes his flesh to take part in so much sufferings. Thus those who follow the footsteps of Jesus, will keep on receiving “grace after grace!”
Prayer:
Our Loving Father! Oh! till now, we have let our flesh to live in prosperity within ourselves! Hereafter not like that, be merciful on us, to carry our Cross and “to suffer in the flesh” to abstain from sin! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
