🔸️ Knowing the Heavenly purpose and live! 🔸️

Most of us, at first while joining with Christ, we are getting closer to Him with the selfish intention to get something good from Him. That benefit is perhaps a divine healing or even a protection from the fire of hell. Even though we have selfish motives, God has accepted us!

The prodigal son (Luke 15th chapter) returned home only to satisfy his hunger. Even so, because of the love the father had for his son, he welcomed his son with overjoy and accepted him back. Yes, our Lord is so good!

But it is truly sad, if we continue to live our Christian life only with the intention of going to heaven. Once we begin to understand God’s purpose for our lives, we should be longing to fulfill them in our lives. Paul prayed for the Christians of Ephesus to see “the hope of the calling of God” (Eph.1:18).

What is the hope of God’s calling? Romans 8:29,30 talk about this. Listen to the call of God in those verses: “For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.” It is God’s purpose for us to be transformed into Jesus’ likeness and become his younger brothers. We read this clearly in this verse.

The whole purpose of sanctification is to grow continually to become like Jesus. Yes, this is a Christian running race! Jesus Christ first ran and completed this race before all of us. Now we have been instructed to run the same path of Jesus, with our eyes on Jesus, who ran before us! (Heb.12:1,2).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father! Today we have come to know Your heavenly calling for us to become like Jesus! Bless us to run towards that call in the coming days! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
