“His Voice Today”

🔸️ Very few only are seeking the supremacy of God! 🔸
As a sign of God’s approval of the prophet Elisah, Israel’s best prophet, God had sent double portion of the anointing on him as Elijah received!
Like all other true servants of God, in the case of Elisha, he received God’s calling, when Elisha did his worldly work faithfully (1 Kings 19:19). He then worked for many years as an assistant for prophet Elijah (2 Kings 3:11). He did not seek great things for himself, but God had great plans for the young man.
Before Elijah was taken to heaven, Elisha was needed to be tested. So Elijah decided to go to Bethel alone and asked Elisha to stay in Gilgal. But Elisah, who had a strong determination to pursue Elijah refused to stay back. At Bethel, Elijah tried again to get rid of Elisha and told him that he wanted to go to Jericho. But Elisa stuck to him like a “leech.” Finally, Elisha was similarly tempted in Jericho. Once again, Elisha won the “relentless trial” and followed Elijah and went to Jordan (2 Kings 2:14). He received double portion of the anointing as one of the finest things from God for his life!
What message does this contain for us? There are many stages in spiritual growth. In these, God tests us to see if we are satisfied with what we have already received, or that we are pursuing the supreme excellence of God. Very few only, come till the end, die completely to ‘self’, wholeheartedly following Christ and receive the two-fold share of the excellence of God!!
Prayer:
Our heavenly Father! Like your faithful servants, be gracious on us to stand firm in the path of greatness till the end and find the “good portion” of the Supremacy; In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
